On Monday, 25th April, the district of Gurugram will observe World Malaria Day and plans to initiate a survey to eliminate malaria by identifying the flow of parasites among transmission sources. Several surveys have already been conducted in the area for the early detection of cases.

The healthcare team will collect the data on infants and adult parasites, spleen rate, fever pattern, effects of the residual indoor spray, etc. The data collected will be analyzed using Malaria Indicator Survey along with the mosquito movement and its link with human movement. Malaria is a significant problem for children under the age of five despite suitable measures taken against it.

Dr. Virendra Yadav, CMO stated that the team will collect information on the use of insecticide-treated nets, indoor residual spraying, effective treatment of kids, and prevention measures for pregnant women. He added the cases usually spike between the months of May and September with two cases reported last year. He also stated that the cases will be geographically tagged to create a database for hotspots.
